Welcome! On these pages you will find patterns to knit for your own preemie or
to donate to a neonatal unit in your area, (I hope you'll do both). Please read on to
learn about me and my endeavor to help out parents that are going through this
difficult time, and to meet my own preemie.
You'll can also see pictures of some of the outfits I've made and
donated to our neonatal unit, some patterns to make these tiny articles of
clothing, and also some great links to get you started.
This is my son Peter Curtis who was born on November 8, 1979, two months premature, weighing in at 3 lbs., 5 oz.
Here is Peter's graduation picture.
I've been knitting since I was about 16 years old. One day while reading one of my craft magazines I found a pattern and an article on preemie clothing and how hard it is for parents of preemies to not only deal with this tremendously difficult time in their lives, but also to find that clothing to fit these tiny bundles is virtually non-existent.
Since I believe that there is a reason for everything, maybe this was it. Use my ability to knit while giving something back to the same hospital that was so kind and caring during my son's stay! My goal is to make sure that each and every one of those babies which leave that unit is given at least one item of clothing I knit.
I hope it brightens the day of the parents who long to take their baby home and
eases, just a little, the tensions and worry that come along with bringing a
premature baby into this world.....
On to the photos, patterns and more!
One more thing... before you leave, please sign my Guestbook. I'd love to know you visited. You can also e-mail if you have pattern questions, or just want to share a thought!
